The plan is to build a waterway on the river and a runway on it
Passengers will be able to enjoy the unobstructed view of taking off from the river
If the number of passengers increases after 2030, it will be considered for Phase-2 immediately

Rangeela Rajkot's identity is now being seen on the world stage. With the arrival of AIIMS in Rajkot for the first time in the state, Rajkot's identity became stronger and now the state's first greenfield airport is taking shape at Hirasar village, 28 km from Rajkot on the Ahmedabad Highway. With the construction of Rajkot International Airport, the people of Saurashtra will be able to reach across seven seas easily and with time saving.

Work on the airport is in full swing and about 60 per cent of the runway work has been completed. DivyaBhaskar has prepared an exclusive report on what other facilities will be at the airport and when the work will be completed. The airport will be able to fly 14 flights in an hour and the runway will be emptied within two minutes of landing and 50 per cent of Saurashtra's traffic will be diverted. The airport, which will be completed by 2022 on 1000 acres i.e. 2500 vigha of land, will prove to be an excellent example of modern engineering.

In this regard, Loknath Padhi, General Manager, Airports Authority of India, told DivyaBhaskar that 14 to 15 aircraft can land in an hour. A cargo facility will be set up after the airport is built. There is not much demand for cargo at this airport in Rajkot yet, but once it starts, a decision will be made about the cargo facility depending on the situation.

The 3040-meter-long and 10,000-foot-wide runway will be

built when DivyaBhaskar visited Hirasar Airport and saw work in full swing. One sloping space after another is being flattened with JCB. Operations were also seen on the runway. Another run-way is being done. Currently the runway is a bit raw, but in the near future the crop runway will also be ready. The 3,040-meter-long, 10,000-foot-wide runway will be built at the International Hirasar Airport. The terminal building will be in a space of 23000 square meters.

The main building is designed to accommodate more than 1,200 passengers per hour, even when the number of flights is high. Constructions including 6 arrow bridges and 6 hangars, parallel taxi tracks, control towers will be built on 1000 acres. However, the Airport Authority has decided to make the airport operational before AIIMS Rajkot.

About 50 per cent of Ahmedabad's traffic will be diverted to Hirasar Airport, said

VP, President, Chamber of Commerce. Vaishnav said he had made several representations regarding the airport. In Saurashtra and mainly in Rajkot, there are only flights to Mumbai and Delhi, but now when the airport starts, about 50 per cent of Ahmedabad's traffic will be diverted to Hirasar Airport. It is natural that people from all over Saurashtra prefer to take flights from here as flights to foreign countries depart from here.

The airport will be a blessing in disguise, especially for those who are involved in festivals and outings, especially those outside the country. Business-minded businessmen often have to go to Ahmedabad the next day according to the flight time, but the time will be saved if the flight starts at Hirasar airport.

Map of the airport: There is only land in Hirasar and construction has started from the ground up.

Ahmedabad Airport had a cargo traffic of more than 45,000 tonnes per annum while
Ahmedabad Airport had a cargo traffic of 45,483 tonnes in the year 2018-19, while domestic and international combined traffic was 11 million passengers in 2018-2019. In 2017-18, the number was 91 lakh.

The airport plan includes a waterway on the river and a runway on it.

What is Greenfield Airport?
The state's first greenfield airport is the site where construction of the international airport begins from the ground up, with no existing airport or structure modified or upgraded. There is only land in Hirasar and construction has started from the very foundation. The airport will be able to fly 14 flights in an hour and the runway will be emptied within 2 minutes of the plane landing.

The operation of Hirasar Airport is being carried out in four phases.
The Greenfield International Airport is to be completed in 1000 acres out of a vast space of 2481 acres and the Airport Authority of India has decided to make it operational by 2022. To achieve this goal quickly, the state government has entrusted the Rajkot district administration with the responsibility of coordinating with different departments.

The International Airport is currently in Phase-I and the airport will be expanded as the need grows and a total of 4 phases have been considered for this expansion. The equivalent of the current international airport in Ahmedabad will be built in Phase-1 in Rajkot.

The world's largest passenger aircraft Boeing 737 can land easily The
world's largest passenger aircraft Boeing 737 is considered to be able to land easily at Rajkot airport. A parallel taxi-track has been built to enable 14 aircraft to fly in a single hour and clear the runway in just two minutes when the flight lands. The airport will overtake Ahmedabad International Airport in the first phase.

A period of 10 years is fixed for each phase. There will then be a meeting of the Authority and in that case a decision will be taken as to whether the expansion should be done according to the traffic and what is required. If the number of passengers increases after 2030, it will be considered for Phase-2 immediately. This is how the next 30 years are planned.

A runway will be built over the river to prevent any disruption in the natural flow,
said Charan Singh Gohil, a provincial official. "There is a natural flow of water at the end of the runway and there is a small river and dam." If this river is supplied, there may be a problem of flooding. So the airport plan is to build a waterway on the river and a runway on it. The flight will take off from there. This natural flow will also not be affected and the runway will also be made full distance.

Passengers will be able to enjoy the unobstructed view of taking off from the river. The small dam on the river will be broken, so that the water will flow out of the airport boundary. So even if there is heavy rain in the monsoon, the water will not fill up and the water will flow naturally.

Lab tests proved strong Rajkot ground, can be set up any structure
has been built around the lab for soil testing prior to making hirasaramam Rajkot airport. Scientists take stone and clay samples from different places and process them 24 hours a day to see their density as well as moisture conditions.

The scientists said that the strength of the stone depends on the density and 1.75 is required for construction, but here it ranges from 1.90 to 2.0 so any structure can be erected here. On the other hand, the fact that the soil is slippery due to moisture was also tested. The soil should not store more than 2% moisture, while the test showed only 0.3% moisture.

Highway Authority to
build a new overbridge to reach the airport Hirasar is becoming the widest road in Rajkot to connect the airport with the highway. The Highway Authority has decided to build an overbridge to prevent traffic there.

Traffic going to the airport from Ahmedabad or Rajkot Tafar will go to the airport's attached road under the overbridge, while those who want to proceed on the highway will pass through the overbridge. Due to this, the domestic airport of Rajkot city will be closed so that the vehicles will not face any traffic obstruction.

According to sources in the Airports Authority of India, after becoming an international airport, the city of Rajkot, which has a domestic airport, will be closed and then domestic flights will also operate from here.

What to do with the space after the closure of the domestic airport is a policy decision. Tracks have been created at short distances on the runway itself where the flight will land. As soon as a flight lands, it will be parked on the track connected to the runway.
