A viral video of a constable taking Rs 200 from the accused in a police van at Amaroli police station in Surat city has become a topic of discussion. The video, which was shot on a mobile phone just outside the Amaroli police station on Monday afternoon, was allegedly shot by the victim. A number of questions have been raised against the police operation after a video of the detained accused being taken away from the police station to the court by the head constable and released by the constable with Rs 200 was found.

Taking the video seriously, the investigation order shows that the accused including Altaf Hussain, Reish, Kamal, Irfan, Halim, who were locked in the van, were taken out of the mobile van after taking Rs 200 from them and signing the register. Detained persons have to be produced in the Mamlatdar's office and given bail by the Mamlatdar. 

In some cases, the police also have the power to grant bail after examining sufficient evidence. However, there is no provision for penalties. In these circumstances, a controversy has arisen over the Rs 200 collected by the police without taking a receipt in the name of fine. When the whole chapter came to the notice of the authorities, he took the matter seriously and ordered an inquiry.

More than five accused were released on Rs 200.

Ashish Donda (videographer) who took Rs 200 to take me to court said that the person to whom I had lent Rs 3 lakh had lodged a complaint against him at the Amaroli police station and the police had taken precautionary measures against him on Monday morning. 

After being kept in the lockup till 3.30 pm, I and the people locked up in the lockup were put in the Amaroli police van. After getting into the police van, the Jamadar and the constable asked him to pay a fine of Rs 200. All were asked to sign short names. However, why was no information or receipt given for this rupee? Complain to ACB.
