Research on these birds, known as pelagornithids, has found that space-like albatrosses today have traveled extensively in Earth's oceans for at least 60 million years.  

Scientists at the University of California in the United States have reported that pelagornithid birds grew rapidly in size after dinosaurs became extinct and roamed the oceans for many years. It is said that these birds have been flying over the sea for many weeks.
